7am-8am Breakfast
9am-4pm Starting at the Banyan Bed and Breakfast Inn, this is an Xtremely challenging (climbing total almost 5,500 feet in elevation) route around the West Maui Mountains. The first half of this ride has narrow roads and tons of hills. Special attention will be required for the exhilarating, technical down hills. From our B and B, 43 miles will be covered on this challenging route (it will ride more like 60 miles) until you reach our swim destination.
You will swim 30' at D. T. Fleming Beach Park in Kapalua along with a snack stop. This classic West Maui Beach was named "America's Best Beach" in 2006. A long-time favorite for body and board surfing, this public park also features good swimming. Facilities include picnic tables and restrooms. Lifeguards on duty.
We will swim 30 minutes here. After the swim, you will bike another 7 miles to Kaanapali Beach, West Maui's "signature" beach. Three miles of white sand. Features “Dig Me Beach. Named "America's Best Beach" in 2003”. We will run the 10-15 minutes out and 10-15 minutes back on this beach.
Finally you will ride another 37 miles back to the B and B with a gradual climb from sea level to 3000 feet. This day will be EPIC in nature.
This day will be fully supported by 1-2 vehicles with ample fuel and fluids. Those riders who fall behind on the first section of the bike (most difficult section) will either get transported up to the swim stop, or will ride to the swim stop but skip the swim and refuel with snacks and fluids.

Keawakapu Beach is a sparkling jewel set at the far southern end of South Kihei Road in South Maui. At 1 mile long, there's plenty of room for everyone and the beach is very popular with tourists and locals alike. Multi-million dollar houses line the shore, but they're unobtrusive and the number of people in them doesn't overwhelm the beach at all. The sand is very fine and super soft, and slopes gently into the water, producing a superior swimming experience. In the mornings you might find a glassy smooth ocean to swim in.

Be prepared for one of the longest continuous climbs (approximately 50km) available by bicycle on the planet (sea level to 10,035 feet). Be sure to pack arm warmers and a light jacket (rain gear). Bring money for a snack and extra cash for a park permit as we ride through the gates into Haleakala National Park. Elite riders will summit in 4 hours with most taking 5-6 hours. Everyone will descend down the mountain at 3pm! If you are not comfortable descending, you can catch a ride down in the van. Make sure you have either a triple chain ring, compact crank or at least at 39 front chain ring and either a 25 or 27 rear gear. This climb is truly epic and beautiful. This is a top 10 life achievement life. Support vehicles will be stationed at strategic points along the climb for food and fluids. Varying start points are necessary for the different levels of riders, with the final ride to the summit a must for all riders.
For those athletes who arrive on the summit before 1pm, you can do a run down into the crater. 2 hour maximum run. All athletes will descend at 3pm!
